The Prhymemates Collaborative & LAWS Crew continue to redefine the creative limits of the festival by importing the best & brightest aerosol artists from Europe & several major US cities.

This year’s featured headlining artists are the world renowned Ma’Claim Crew, a collective of brilliant photorealistic art minds from East Germany who have created some of the most prestigious commissioned walls around the world. Ma’Claim will be joined by German female artist Hera, of Herakut. Clogged Caps 6 will mark their first time ever painting on Texas soil. http://maclaim.blogspot.com/ , www.herakut.de/

For a video of Ma’Claim painting a massive mural live in Vlissingen, Netherlands from 2008, click the link below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8HSY3gAw8Q

Stateside, artists from Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, Indianapolis, San Francisco, Oakland, Houston, Austin, San Antonio & other US cities will be painting larger-than-life murals during the weekend festival. There will also be a skateboarding demonstration by the Good Times San Antonio skate team, plus break dancing exhibitions & workshops by Youth Advocates, live music from over 10 of SA’s top DJs, children’s activities, vendors & more.

The all day live art festival will be held on Saturday, October 24th at the Yard (525 San Pedro Ave.,) & will run all day from dawn until dusk. The festivities are free, open to the public of all ages & will be held in a family friendly environment.

The meet & greet pre-party will be held on Friday, October 23rd at Limelight (2718 N. St. Marys St.) & will feature an all star line up of DJs, including Austin’s DJ Rapid Ric (Chamillionaire’s DJ,) & the Table Manners Crew. This specific event is ages 21+ & doors open at 9pm.

The after party will close out the weekend on Saturday, October 24th at Tonic (5500 Babcock Rd.) & will feature world famous DJ Cut Chemist (Los Angeles, CA,) as well as DJs Shortkut & Apollo from the Beat Junkies & Triple Threat crews (San Francisco, CA). DJ Shortkut is an original member of 3 groundbreaking DJs crews, The Invizibl Skratch Piklz, The Beat Junkies & Triple Threat DJs. This specific event is ages 21+ and doors open at 9pm. Location:

Description
Hey Bling Bling Flingers!

Get that fuzzy, fancy, Blingy feeling a couple days early this year. Here’s two wonderful ways to promote the Bling Bling Fling masquerade gala (Oct. 24 at Artpace), the primary fundraiser for the Martinez Street Women’s Center:
1) Blare the KENS5 Great Day SA morning show at your home/office on Thurs. Oct. 22. We’re not sure exactly what time, but there will be about 5 minutes of awesomeness from 9-10 a.m., courtesy of the Current’s Sarah Fisch, Kiss FM’s Quinn and the hot hoopers. Invite whoever you know that has $25 to burn to a coffee break and watch it.
2) Come be in the audience with us for this very special Great Day SA appearance. We want a lot of happy, smiling masked faces hooting and hollering whenever the camera pans to the audience. This way, people at home will think, ‘if they’re having this much fun on a Thursday morning, Saturday night will be amazing!’
Let us know if you can be in the audience. We’d love to see you there. Location: 5400 Fredericksburg Road.

San Antonio Flash Mob Organization BABY SWAP

Hosted by:

Gabriel Anthony Garza

When:

Saturday, October 03, 2009 1:00 PM – 2:20 PM CDT (End Time Estimated)

Description

San Antonio Flash Mob Organization will be Hosting its first Event on Saturday, Oct. 3rd, 2009. We are calling it BABY SWAP -

Show up at the Briefing Point, Maverick Park on Broadway, at 1pm. We will have a short discussion of the process and will depart from the Briefing Point at 1:15pm.

You will be given one hour to arrive at the Event Area (hint: it’s somewhere downtown)

At 2:15 we will Began swapping Baby Dolls in a public place. the event will only last a few minutes. afterwards you will disperse as if nothing happened. The event will be filmed. We will be meeting back up at Sam’s Burger Joint after the event.

We advise you to buy a CHEAP baby doll from a discount store (Because you might not get the same one back)

We’re trying to maintain the loose illusion that the baby dolls are real babies, so if you can borrow or otherwise attain a stroller, by all means bring it. If not, that’s okay, too. Try to make the Baby Doll as believable as possible. And dress inconspicuously, as if you were a normal, average parent.

If you are not familiar with a Flash Mob, check out Improv Everywhere on YouTube.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING A REAL BABY TO THE EVENT!
(I can Not stress this enough.)

La Gloria

6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
About Me:
THE SAN ANTONIO CREATIVE COLLABORATIVE FOR DIVERSITY IN THE ARTS – a collaborative comprised of Anchor Partners, Community Partners, Artists, Performers, Sponsors, Volunteers, and the City of San Antonio, announce a very special event: “Una Noche de La Gloria – Contemporary Art in the Cultural Zone”. La Gloria happen this fall, October 10, 2009, from 6:00PM to Midnight in San Antonio’s historic Avenida Guadalupe Westside Arts District. “La Gloria” is an ambitious project which encourages the “collecting” of locally produced fine art via an exhibition environment and the discovery of contemporary performance artists via music, film, and literature.

Created and organized by the Contemporary Art and Literature Organization (CALO) and sponsored by District 5 Councilwoman Lourdes Galvan, “Una Noche de La Gloria” is an arts exposition and community building activity. La Gloria was created to advance cultural adjustment and growth and promote the undercurrent markets of the arts and culture in San Antonio’s Xicano and Latino communities. While the main focus of CALO is to promote creative individuals, La Gloria will showcase “senior citizen” master artists and give aspiring artists a chance to participate amongst their peers, thereby bridging the generation gap and pro-actively passing down values that have sustained local artist for generations.

We believe the best way to support creative individuals is to build bridges between our City’s artists, its citizens and visitors enabling commerce through the arts while fostering a healthy and prosperous creative economy that strengthens an authentic San Antonio artistic and cultural community.

Join us this fall for the unforgettable “Una Noche de La Gloria – Contemporary Art in the Cultural Zone” in “el mero gueso” – the Westside of San Antonio.
