Sarah Sudhoff’s photographs are now at cactus bra SPACE. 2217 is an on-going series featuring individuals afflicted by Neurofibromatosis–the most common genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow throughout the body. Sudhoff’s large-scale color photographs are reminiscent of 19th century medical photography with their straight forward compositions and look closely at four people with Neurofibromatosis.

J. Derrick Durham: Ghost Receptacle
Three Walls
May 6 – May 28, 2010

Ghost Receptacle is an experimental commentary on a three year relationship J. Derrick Durham has had with the dumpster in the parking lot of his duplex apartment. This investigation of the dumpster as utilitarian sculpture and depository of consumer’s discarded remains is also an homage to the dumpster. Using a combination of video, sculptural installation, drawing and performance, Ghost Receptacle addresses issues of “transit and loss through the nexus of throw-away culture mentality”. Don’t miss the interactive performance on Friday, May 7 during the reception!
