The press release:

Terry Karson
February 8 – March 16, 2008
Reception: 7 – 11 PM, Friday, February 8, 2008

Inspired by his travels to Turkey in recent years, Montana artist Terry Karson has moved from the natural history of his previous work to something more archaeological in nature.

Making use of recycled cardboard packaging, Terry distresses and scrambles the lingering logos and texts in a cadence falling between recognition and obscurity.

Quoting Terry:

“These fragments were inspired by the ancient, architectural tile on many of the buildings around the country — tile work with Arabic script which is all but unintelligible to contemporary Turks who have not used the Arabic language for nearly 80 years. “
