The McNay is opening its long-awaited Stieren Center on June 7-8.

We look forward to welcoming you to the new McNay and the expanded exhibitions and programs the Stieren Center makes possible. American Art Since 1945: In a New Light, and Cool Models/Maquettes Froides, an exhibition devoted to the architectural designs of Jean-Paul Viguier, will join several other exhibitions marking the center’s debut. The Jerry Lawson Gallery, now available yearround for print and drawing exhibitions, will feature Rarities, rare works from our print collection.

Architecture in Print, a tribute to the McNay’s distinguished architecture, will launch the Stieren Center’s new paperworks gallery. The Tobin Theatre Arts Gallery and the Brown Gallery will highlight a special installation of the Tobin Theatre Arts Collection’s celebrated Russian holdings of designs for the Ballets Russes.

The new Valero Learning Centers will be the focal point of many new programs, including a computer resource on our Pablo Picasso Portrait of Sylvette and a colorful sculpture installation by artist Sandy Skoglund created with teachers attending our Summer Teacher Institute. The new Elizabeth and William J. Chiego Lecture Hall will be the comfortable site of major lectures, such as Sandy Skoglund’s June 12 lecture Reality Under Siege, part of our Distinguished Lecture Series.
