Scattered Work: The First Emvergeoning Spin-off Blog

I’m sure many of you have noticed that my blogging at Emvergeoning has dropped off rather dramatically over the last couple of months. There are numerous reasons for this, but one of the big ones is a sense of limitation in what I feel Emvergeoning is about. Frankly, I’m losing my energy for writing about issues directly related to art and design, and some of the energy that remains is being soaked up by other publications. What’s a blogger to do?
The obvious answer, of course, is to start another blog. If you’ve enjoyed my writing in this space, I hope you will check in with my new, personal blog, Scattered Work. I will continue writing about art (cross-posting when appropriate), but Scattered Work will offer broader thoughts on culture in general — more about politics, spirituality, technology, or whatever happens to be capturing my imagination; and more of my personal creative work, which I have avoided posting on Emvergeoning.
We’re also working on some plans to reenergize Emvergeoning, so stay tuned for that.
good luck with the new blog
A few minor points…
Art blogging in San Antonio soaked up? By which sites? I would like to read those as well.
(You’re not talking about that bullshit mysa.com art blog, are you? That crap blog isn’t good enough to soak up my dog’s piss!)
Also, don’t you think that emvergeoning has within it the capacity to grow and evolve?
How about a makeover? A new mission statement?
Not enough?
I LIKE emvergeoning, dammit. New masthead. New colors. More posts. ¡Y ya!
i appreciate the concern, but maybe you missed this part of the post:
“We’re also working on some plans to reenergize Emvergeoning, so stay tuned for that.”
No, I did read that. It’s just that saying emvergeoning will be reenergized is a little at odds with your statement of “I’m losing my energy for writing about [these] issues.” And starting another blog. I’m just saying keep your energies here. A minor point.
The upshot of this change for me? I will another bookmark with your new site that I will check in addition to emvergeoning. No biggie. I’ll live.
I just happened to like the combination of the earnest intellectual, the gregarious man about town, and the critic that’s not afraid to throw some flames every once on a while, if you’ll allow me to reduce you all to that. And, which is not to say you all aren’t intellectual, gregarious and flame throwers. You all are!
Anyway, good luck with the new site. I will be reading.
