invisible houses at i2i / Vtrue ARTSPACE
Posted by justin on 04 Mar 2007 at 01:21 pm | Tagged as: sneak peeks, upcoming events
Hi. Let me introduce myself. My name is Justin Parr. I’m frequently seen out and about holding fistfuls of postcards for various art openings. Often these postcards are promoting other folk in my gallery at 1906 s. flores (FL!GHT), but this last month I’ve been dispensing matte invites to my own show (invisible houses.) at the erstwhile “I2I Gallery” (renamed VTRUE Artspace), opening this next Friday at 2110 McCullough in San Antonio TX. So, if your looking for a good time this coming Friday, it might be good to stop on by. Please gaze longingly into the sunset below.

The usage (imagine me of all people!) of bardo is usually “in the bardo”, but you have the general idea right: an in-between state, as you riff on “in limbo.”
The usual example is the bardo between life and death, but, to rejoin Ashbery, this is only one example.
The bardo between sleeping and wakefullness is another. They are situations conceived to be highly ambivalent, but recognized as being “of a single taste.” It’s more of an experiential thing, rather than the conceptual paradox of, say, a koan, and not so much a predicament.
Sounds like you had a nice time in Paris. Hope you did. All best.
I should probably change my talkback tag on artforum, but it’s just one example of the power of suggestion, true?
1 p.m. Takes a cell-phone call from a donor who has just donated a $1.5 million collection to the Rose but is staying anonymous. They work out the details of shipping the works to Brandeis.
1:30 p.m. Meets with a prospective board member for the Rose, a Boston-based collector the museum has been courting. “I hope we get him.”
3 p.m. Meets with Fergus McCaffrey, a New York dealer, about a conceptual photographer whose work he wants to buy.
4 p.m. Further networking, this time at the booth of Gasser & Grunert, a New York gallery, about a work by Tim Roda that he has put on hold. About the shopping element at Basel: “It’s fun.”
6 p.m. “Drinks which may turn into dinner” with four curators from around the country at Talula at Collins and 23rd.
7:30 p.m. Attends the Whitney Museum/David Yurman party at the Sagamore Hotel.
11 p.m. Drinks at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. “A couple of my board members are staying there. I suspect I’ll run into Jonathan Lee and his wife Barbara.”
2 a.m., Thursday, December 6 Bedtime at the Continental. Even though he only has one more day in Miami, Rush says, “It’s crazy—I’ve barely started looking at any art.”
