Marcia Gygli King: Botanical Paintings
January 29 through April 12, 2009

SAMA is pleased to be collaborating with the Southwest School of Art and Craft (SSAC) and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Art Gallery in presenting Marcia Gygli King: Forty Years, a retrospective exhibition honoring the part-time San Antonio resident who also maintains a studio in New York City. Included in the exhibition at SAMA are gritty paintings featuring a variety of exotic species, including the carlina vulgaris or carline thistle, the trumpet vine, the bird of paradise, the Fritillaria imperialis (also known as the Crown Imperial), the Cleome dendroides, and a Texas favorite, the yellow rose.
