“There may not be snow in San Antonio…”

You knew it was Christmas when the family took that annual trip into downtown San Antonio to see the Joske’s Department Store “Fantasy Toyland” window display. It was easy to stand for hours with your nose pressed up against the window, watching the toy trains moving along their tracks through the miniature winter wonderland. The joy that this magical display provided was endless. Elaborate scenes like these are magical because they might possibly be the farthest things from reality.
What does Christmas look like for a lonely Tia, alone in her house on the Westside with no one to take her to mass? What does Christmas look like for a hard working Mexicana on the Southside that has to make gifts appear out of thin air for her children? What happens when dad has too much to drink? What happens when the isolation gets to be too much?
Watch as we honor the true stories of our gente during what is supposed to be the happiest time of the year. Stories told through movement, poetry and song. Starring S.T. Shimi, Cros, Lisa Suarez, and Dino Foxx.
This popular site-specific series based on an original concept by Kim Corbin and Sandra Dunn returns with brand-new works in the front windows of Jump-Start Theater. Co-produced by Sandra Dunn & Monessa Esquivel, this season, four different Jump-Start artists create one-night only performance/ multi- media installations that are meant to be viewed from outside the theater.
Gary Sweeney: Maybe If Your Metaphors Weren’t So Obvious Sala Diaz Opens Friday, Nov. 6, 7-11 pm Through December 6. “Without giving too much away, I wanted to create a metaphor. That idea expanded to making many metaphors. I’m basically emptying out the metaphor closet, so my Big Idea has grown into my Big Idea which Includes Many Related Ideas.” – Gary Sweeney |

Description
This show features unique and creative twists on a holiday classic, the wreath. Originally used by both Greeks and Romans, wreaths symbolized life, healing and strength, in addition to remembering the deceased. Appropriating the custom, Christians used the object as a sign for the never-ending love for Christ. Unfortunately, though, wreaths are now primarily used as a vehicle to hang tacky stuff on doors. Robot Art Gallery wants to change that.
