Went by Blue Star to drop off my not so silent night ornament today.. ran into Zinnia and she told me about this kind of surprise event going down at Blue Star to kick off the “Selections from the Texas Biennial.” show.
ripped from the press release :
For the public opening of the exhibition Selections from the Texas Biennial at Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, Bad Trucker will give a brief live performance, nearly thirty minutes in duration, at 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 6th.
Bad Trucker is a one-person band mixing pre-programmed video projections, videos on television monitors, and sculptural room interventions with live musical instrumentation and singing. The product is a musical event that hovers somewhere uncomfortably between karaoke and performance art.
For the Selections from the Texas Biennial exhibition, Bad Trucker will assemble a temporary performance stage at the entrance of Blue Star’s project space. While serving as back drop for the performance the stage will also establish the notion of “project space” to be the space that exists within the flat screen of projected video and the space that the artist inhabits while performing.
